Double Rainbow over Many Parks Curve, Rocky Mountain National Park
I spotted this double rainbow over Rocky Mountain National Park late one summer afternoon in July 2021. I drove up to an overlook along Trail Ridge Road in hopes of finding something interesting to photograph, but the day’s thunderstorm obscured much of the distant horizon. I began putting away my camera when the rain started to ease and a faint rainbow formed in the distant horizon. It got stronger and stronger, and I snapped several insurance shots at different angles as the conditions changed. Finally, the sun appeared from behind the storm clouds and I witnessed one of the most vivid rainbows I have ever seen.
