Winter Sunset, El Capitan and the Merced River, Yosemite National Park
I made this photograph in December 2022. Whenever I visit Yosemite Valley, I almost always make a stop at the Gates of the Valley. On this particular evening, the last light of the day hit El Capitan. Yosemite Valley had just received a healthy dusting of snow the week before, and the white landscape in the shadows contrasted nicely with the bright orange alpenglow.
